Sequel to the recent changes in the admission status of some candidates on Jamb CAPS and the nervousness this is generating, it’s expedient we inform you about what’s necessary so you don’t get misguided.
Firstly, the admission list is updated on Jamb Caps before it’s uploaded on Unilorin Website. The update on Jamb Caps is the first list and this is done in batches. Hence to put, it’s a gradual process which is uploaded through a set process, so your portal not changing now doesn’t mean that it won’t change later. We strongly advise you to monitor your CAPS just as the update was done on the TRANSFER PROGRAM and not wait to rely on waiting for your department list etc.
The fact that you haven’t seen Admission in Progress does not suggest that it’s the end, relax don’t give yourself unnecessary high blood pressure, remain hopeful and as we said, it’s just the FIRST LIST done in a gradual process, keep checking the Caps portal for subsequent changes.
Once you have seen “Admission in Progress” or “you have been admitted “ just note that you have been considered. Note this might not reflect initially on the Unilorin portal because the list is still being screened by JAMB, once approved it will be sent to Unilorin for a re-upload on their portal, then it will be visible. We will adequately inform you on our platform when this is done.

D) ADMISSION STATUS (You are then to ACCEPT or REJECT the offer) on CAPS
E) JAMB SENDS LIST BACK Institution
F) Finally its UPLOADED ON INSTITUTION PORTAL
SOME STATUS HINTS ON CANDIDATE PROFILE/ADMISSION (CAPS)
Below are some of the things you need to know about JAMB CAPS which might relieve you of the anxiousness while anticipating the admission list, if your status shows any of the highlighted words below

- NOT ADMITTED
This has two (2) interpretations;
(a) Your school is yet to upload your details for admission consideration
(b) You have not been considered for admission.
(c) You are not included in the First List, most probably in the subsequent list. At this point, it demands being hopeful, constant prayers and monitoring to your CAPS portal to see if there’ll be any change on your admission status.
- NOT ADMITTED
- ADMISSION_IN_PROGRESSYou have met all the requirements for admission consideration. Those requirement as set by the school on CAPS by the Admission Officer, and most competitively, DEPARTMENTAL QUOTA (You’ve qualified up to the needed numbers to be admitted in your department as set on CAPS by the school). Furthermore, it is noteworthy that this stage has three (3) sub-stages;
a. Proposed: You’ve been suggested by CAPS i.e. Jamb based on the criteria programmed by the school on CAPS. This list is downloaded by the school for reviewing.
b. Recommended: Your admission proposal by CAPS has been looked into and accepted by the school. At this point, the school has given you admission based on the proposal made to them by CAPS. They forward the list to Jamb for final approval.
c. Approved: Your admission has been confirmed by Jamb to see if you were part of the lists they had proposed to the school before. At this point, Jamb notifies you to accept or reject the offer within the space of 72 hours. That’s all for “admission in progress”.
- ADMITTED
At this point, you may have accepted the admission offer on CAPS and as such it should reflect on your Unilorin portal.

NOTE: This CAPS platform is designed for all aspirants but it reflects first on UTME Candidates before D.E (Direct Entry).
Finally, your admission on CAPS is very authentic in that the school has accepted you in their list. There’s no admission outside CAPS, don’t be deceived by people who states otherwise, it is the list that Jamb prepares via CAPS (having been recommended by the school) that will be uploaded by the school on its portal.
